We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home & Cremation Services
Robert Joseph Malvesta (10/26/1940 – 9/9/2022) passed away the morning of Friday Sept 9th 2022. Our Father lived an amazing life. He was an exceptional baseball player growing up and a lifelong sports fan (i.e. coach, equipment manager, videographer, chauffeur, etc.). He was the first in his family to graduate from college, putting himself through Northeastern University followed by Medical School at University of Vermont. He served in the military as Head of Pathology at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital before entering into private practice in Bangor, ME. He was a brilliant doctor who loved his job and never stopped learning. He also had a passion for woodworking and was a skilled builder of houses (ours and countless birdhouses), furniture, cutting boards, and a never ending cache of swords, shields and other assorted weapons for his swashbuckling grandchildren.
Whether you knew him as Dr. Bob, Dad or Papa, you knew him to be a truly special individual. Kind, witty, generous, humble, authentic, warm, happy, strong, calming and dependable are all words that defined his character. He was an incredible story-teller with an infectious laugh and an uncanny blend of intelligence and empathy. To meet our Dad was to instantly like him, and to know him was to love him and to be loved by him.
Dad was a great many things and accomplished so much in his life, but his crowning achievement and the one true joy of his life was his family and his community of close friends. It is impossible to imagine a better Father to us, Stephen and Jennifer and Father-In-Law to Jason and Shelby (future), a more committed Husband to Nancy (Mom) or a more proud and loving Grandfather to Domenic, Roman, Miller, Jameson and Carolina. We are so grateful for all of the love and friendship he enjoyed from each of you, and we ask that you keep his memory alive in your hearts.
We love you Dad and we are so lucky to have had you in our lives.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dr. Bob’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Furber & White Funeral Home, 2925 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH on Tuesday, September 13th from 4-6PM. His graveside services will be held on Wednesday morning in Snowville Cemetery, Corner of Brownfield and Drew Point Rds, Easton Center, NH.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Bob’s name to: Malvesta Grandchildren College Fund, 430 Brook Street, Framingham, MA 01701
